An Unforgettable Week of Challenge, Skill, and Camaraderie
This summer, two of our Royal Navy cadets had the incredible opportunity to attend the prestigious Royal Marines Cadet Camp at RM Lympstone, the home of Royal Marines training. The camp offers a demanding and rewarding programme designed to develop physical fitness, military skills, leadership, and teamwork in a realistic and challenging environment.
Core Training and Activities
Throughout the week, cadets engaged in a wide range of activities including:
- Physical Training (PT), gym work, swimming, and drill
- Map reading, navigation, orienteering, and first aid
- Fieldcraft, weapons handling, and live firing
- Team-building exercises focused on communication and leadership
A highlight of the camp was the field training on Woodbury Common, where cadets took part in realistic exercises such as reconnaissance patrols, ambush scenarios, and simulated enemy assaults—all while living under field conditions. These exercises tested not only physical endurance but also strategic thinking and adaptability.
Real Experience, Real Growth
One of our cadets reflected on the experience:
“Having been a member of the CCF for a number of years and attended several camps and courses, I can confidently say this has been one of the best experiences yet. From close-quarters battle drills and midnight patrols to room clearance training and working in a section under pressure—it was intense, but also hugely rewarding.
The instructors were professional, experienced, and supportive, and the friendships I made will last far beyond this camp. It was physically and mentally demanding, but I came away more confident, more capable, and more connected than ever.”
An Experience to Remember
For our two cadets, this camp was far more than just a training course—it was a defining experience. It challenged them, inspired them, and gave them the chance to develop valuable life skills in leadership, resilience, and teamwork.
We are incredibly proud of their efforts and look forward to seeing how they apply what they’ve learned in their future CCF journeys.
