The Army Section spent an unforgettable and fun-filled week at this year’s CCF Summer Camp held at Altcar Training Camp. Packed with adventure, challenge, and camaraderie, each day brought new experiences that pushed cadets to develop their teamwork, resilience, and military skills.
🔫 Day 1 – Ranges
The week kicked off with a bang on the ranges. For some cadets, it was their first time firing, while others focused on honing their marksmanship in pursuit of the prestigious Marksmanship Badge. Many cadets showed real natural talent, impressing instructors with their focus and precision.
🏘 Day 2 – TIBUA (Training in Built-Up Areas)
Day two introduced cadets to urban operations. Through TIBUA training, they learned how to tactically search buildings, secure areas, and engage in urban conflict simulations. The cadets rose to the challenge, demonstrating confidence and tactical awareness in close-quarter environments.
🎯 Day 3 – The Altcar Challenge
A highlight of the week, the Altcar Challenge saw cadets rotate through a series of competitive activity bases, including the obstacle course, first aid scenarios, CIS (communications), paintball CQB lane, observation posts, and vehicle checkpoints. Teams worked hard to achieve top scores, testing their physical endurance, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
🧟 Day 4 – Fieldcraft & Biochemical Leak Scenario
The most imaginative day of the week, cadets were tasked with resolving a fictional biochemical leak while fending off zombie clowns! They had to search the area, rescue missing personnel, and gather intelligence to stop the outbreak. It was a test of fieldcraft, teamwork, and quick thinking—all of which the cadets handled with confidence and determination.
💦 Day 5 – Water Adventure & Cultural Visit in Liverpool
To wrap up the week, cadets headed to Liverpool for an exciting day of adventure training and cultural exploration. They hit the docks for stand-up paddleboarding and took on inflatable obstacle course races as a team. In the afternoon, they strolled along the waterfront, visited the Museum of Liverpool, and enjoyed some well-earned treats and shopping time around the Albert Dock.
🎉 Final Night – Fancy Dress, Celebration & Parade
To round off an unforgettable week, Thursday night was all about celebration—in full fancy dress! Cadets pulled out all the stops with imaginative and hilarious costumes, bringing fun and colour to the final parade. Awards were presented to the top-performing teams before everyone hit the field for a massive disco. A live DJ kept the energy high, while festival face painting, a burger and ice cream van, and a photo booth added to the fun. Special guests The Wookies posed for photos, and the Boogie Stormtroopers wowed the crowd with a surprise dance performance. It was the perfect ending to a week packed with challenge, adventure, and laughter.
The camp was an incredible opportunity for cadets to challenge themselves, form new friendships, and experience the very best of what the Army Section has to offer. Their determination, enthusiasm, and team spirit shone through every step of the way.
