This weekend, Calday Grange Grammar School CCF proudly hosted the first North Region VEX Robotics event, welcoming cadets from across the area for a practice competition as preparations begin for the 2026 season.
We were delighted to host teams from:
- St Thomas CCF
- Kirkham Grammar School CCF
- 1263 Rochdale Squadron RAF Air Cadets
- Birchwood CCF
- 1074 Ellesmere Port Squadron RAF Air Cadets
The event was designed as a development scrimmage, giving cadets valuable match experience and the opportunity to test their robots in a competitive environment. For several attendees, this was their very first VEX competition — making the day an important introduction to competitive robotics.
Despite this being Calday’s first time both hosting and competing in a North Region VEX event, our cadets performed exceptionally well and were proud to win the scrimmage. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work, teamwork, and dedication shown by the cadets in preparation for the event.
The competition marks the start of the journey towards the first North West qualifier in April. Teams will be competing for places at the North Region VEX Final, which will take place at the National Aerospace Centre in August 2026.
Well done to all cadets involved — whether competing for the first time or supporting behind the scenes. The future of VEX Robotics in the North Region is looking very strong.
