In July, the Calday Grange Grammar School RAF Section marked an important milestone by holding its first-ever Dining-Out and Awards Evening. The event brought cadets and staff together to celebrate the section’s achievements and recognise the dedication shown throughout another busy and successful year.

The evening began with a formal three-course meal, giving cadets the opportunity to experience the traditions and customs associated with a military dining-out night. Cadets conducted themselves with maturity and professionalism, making the occasion a fitting reflection of the high standards expected within the RAF Section.

Following the meal, awards were presented to cadets who had demonstrated outstanding commitment, progress, leadership and achievement during the year. It was wonderful to see so many cadets receive well-deserved recognition for their contributions, whether through training, competitions, camps, leadership roles or consistent attendance and enthusiasm at weekly parades.

The awards celebrated both individual success and the collective strength of the section. Every cadet played an important part in the RAF Section’s continued development, and the evening provided an opportunity to reflect on the teamwork, resilience and determination displayed throughout the year.

Once the formal proceedings had concluded, the evening moved into a more relaxed celebration. CWO Farrell provided the music and lighting, creating a fantastic atmosphere and ensuring that cadets and staff could finish the year in style.

The RAF Section’s first Dining-Out and Awards Evening was a tremendous success and a memorable conclusion to an excellent year. We hope it will become an important annual tradition within the section for many years to come.

Congratulations to everyone who received an award, and thank you to the cadets, staff and everyone working behind the scenes whose hard work helped make the evening possible.
