Calday Grange CCF army section invited some RAF and Navy cadets to their training weekend at Warcop Training Camp. They practised their fieldcraft and navigation skills to progress through their star levels and advance their skills. They also participated in a blank firing exercise over the weekend.

A blank firing section attack is an advanced training exercise in which cadets simulate combat scenarios using blank ammunition. This exercise enhances tactical skills, teamwork, and leadership under realistic conditions.

Key Components of a Blank Firing Section Attack

  • Tactical Movement: Cadets practice manoeuvres such as fire and movement, section attacks, and ambushes.
  • Use of Blank Ammunition: Firearms are loaded with blank rounds to simulate live fire without projectiles.
  • Command and Control: Cadets take on roles such as Section Commander and 2ic (Second-in-Command), issuing orders and coordinating actions.
  • Rehearsals and Execution: Before the exercise, cadets conduct rehearsals to familiarise themselves with the plan and their roles.

Training Objectives

The primary objectives of a blank firing section attack are to:

  • Develop and assess leadership and command skills.
  • Enhance understanding of battlefield tactics.
  • Improve communication and coordination within a section.
  • Provide realistic training experiences to prepare cadets for future roles.

If you are interested in participating in such exercises, contact us if you attend Calday Grange Grammar School or West Kirby Girls’ School. If you do not attend our schools, do not hesitate to contact your local cadet unit.
