The final weekend in March saw our 2-Star Fieldcraft training exercise take place, with cadets from both the Army and Navy sections coming together for another challenging weekend in the field.
Despite cold and windy conditions, cadets demonstrated resilience, determination, and a strong sense of teamwork throughout what proved to be a gruelling 36-hour exercise. The weekend was designed to build on previously learned skills, giving cadets the opportunity to put their training into practice in realistic field conditions, while also introducing new techniques and challenges.
Throughout the exercise, cadets developed their fieldcraft skills, including navigation, living in the field, and working effectively as part of a team under pressure. Their ability to adapt and maintain high standards in difficult conditions was particularly impressive.
The weekend culminated in a final exercise involving section attacks, where cadets applied everything they had learned. They performed exceptionally well, demonstrating confidence, leadership, and excellent teamwork across all sections.
“It was fantastic to see the cadets applying their skills with such confidence and determination in challenging conditions. Their resilience and teamwork were outstanding throughout the weekend, and they should be incredibly proud of what they achieved.”
— OC Army, Captain J. McGinn
Overall, the weekend was a great success, and the cadets should be extremely proud of their efforts. Their performance has set a strong foundation for future training and upcoming exercises.
