Over the Easter half-term, three of our cadets attended the demanding Senior Cadet Instructors Course (SCIC), where they were truly put to the test.
Throughout the week-long course, cadets were challenged in both fieldcraft and instructional techniques, delivering lessons to their peers while being continuously assessed by the Cadet Training Team. The course pushed them outside of their comfort zones, developing their confidence, leadership, and ability to teach effectively.
All three cadets impressed both course staff and school staff with their performance, exceeding expectations with their determination and professionalism. Not only did they excel individually, but they also played a key role in supporting and motivating other cadets—demonstrating the qualities of strong leaders.
In recognition of their hard work and performance on the course, the cadets were formally promoted by the Course Officer to the ranks of Sergeant (Sgt) and Cadet Sergeant (C/Sgt)—a proud and well-deserved achievement.
The course concluded with an outstanding final parade in front of the Colonel Cadets HQ North (West), where each cadet was formally presented with their course certificate. It was a fitting end to a challenging and rewarding week.
“These cadets have shown exceptional commitment, resilience, and leadership throughout the course. Their ability to step up, deliver training, and support others has been outstanding, and their promotions are thoroughly deserved.” – Captain J McGinn, OC Army
“I am incredibly proud of what these cadets have achieved. They have represented the school and the CCF with professionalism and determination, and they return as stronger leaders ready to inspire the next generation.” – Wing Commander Bosworth, Contingent Commander
Their hard work and commitment have already had a positive impact back at school, where they are now helping to inspire and prepare other cadets through training and mentorship.
